RICHMOND, Va. -- The CBS 6 Month of Giving is underway. Every day through December, a CBS 6 team member will surprise someone in the community with a random act of kindness.

Kristen Luehrs took this opportunity to surprise an expecting mom whose husband is recovering from his third, double-lung transplant.

Last Spring, Lauren and Chad found out the lungs Chad received from his second transplant were being rejected. On Thanksgiving, they found out a third set of lungs was a match.

Lauren, who lives and works in Richmond, and her son travel back and forth to North Carolina where Chad is now recovering from his surgery. The couple is expected their second child, a boy, in March.

Chad is expected to be in rehab for about another month.

Kristen gave the family a gift card to help with Christmas and grocery shopping.
