Police search for owner of child-biting, White Headed Capuchin monkey

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Virginia Beach Police have released images of a monkey and its owner after police said the monkey bit a child at the Oceanfront.

Police said they received a report that a monkey had bitten a child in the 2300 block of Atlantic Avenue, around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 3.

An Animal Control Officer responded and started an investigation.  The owner fled the area with the monkey, identified as a White Headed Capuchin monkey, immediately after the bite occurred.

The case remains under investigation by Animal Control Officer Theresa Canape as the lead investigator.

Tipsters remain anonymous and could be eligible for up to a $1,000 reward if their information leads to an arrest.
