Police search for monkey that bit child at Virginia Beach strip

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Virginia Beach Police are searching for the owner of a monkey that bit a child yesterday.

On August 3, 2016 at approximately 10:30pm, a citizen called Emergency Communications when a monkey bit a child in the 2300 block of Atlantic Avenue in Virginia Beach.

An Animal Control Officer responded and started an investigation into the exposure.

The owner and the monkey fled the area immediately following the incident.

Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance for any information about the monkey or the monkey’s owner.

Anyone with information related to the case are encouraged to call Virginia Beach Crime Solvers at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP (1-888-562-5887) or by submitting a tip by texting “VBTIP” and the information to CRIMES (274637). Callers remain anonymous and could be eligible for up to a $1,000 reward if their information leads to an arrest.

The case remains under investigation by Animal Control Officer Theresa Canape as the lead investigator.
