Dixie Donuts, Daylight Donuts join forces

Posted

RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) – When we look back on Jan. 10, 2014, we may well consider it the day that changed the way Richmond eats doughnuts.

Today Dixie Donuts in Carytown announced it would join forces with Daylight Donuts in Henrico’s West End.

“Talks of a merger began in the early fall with the owners quickly recognizing the many advantages of combining talents, recipes, and locations to create the best local donut experience available,” Daylight Donuts founder Lance Elwood said in a statement.

The Innsbrook-area Daylight Donuts will take on the Dixie Donuts branding. Dixie’s owner Betsy Thomas and James Frank will manage the West End location’s day-to-day operations.

The doughnut business seems to be booming in RVA.

Last month the owner of Sugar Shack Donuts on N. Lombardy announced his shop would expand with a new location on E. Main St.

Dunkin’ Donuts franchises continue to open, including one in Ashland, as reported by RichmondBizSense.com.

And Krispy Kreme is hiring for its newest location in Midlothian.
