By 11 p.m. winds shifted northwesterly and will continue to increase throughout the rest of the night. The first wave of rain and snow will end in the metro-area by midnight, with a wrap-around band of snow developing between midnight and dawn.

Please remember to check your pets for frostbite whenever they go outdoors! Their paws, ear tips and noses are especially prone the injury. Keep their walks as brief as possible, and then give them extra food/treats afterward because they burn more calories keeping their bodies warm. And break the ice in outdoor water bowls!

Sure, it’s frigid cold today, but I’m tracking even colder air for next week… http://wtvr.com/weather/forecast/
