RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - Virginia State Police are aware and prepared for the possibility of a truck convoy protest disrupting traffic through the Commonwealth and into Washington, D.C. on Friday. The “Truckers Ride for the Constitution” rally is scheduled for this weekend.

Americans can strike in solidarity with truck drivers!" a statement on the rally's Facebook page read.

"As long as the vehicles comply with Virginia law, then the Virginia State Police will not interfere with their activities," Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller wrote in an email. "VSP will have additional troopers working Friday and on through the weekend in Northern Virginia to respond to any incidents that may arise – traffic crashes, disabled vehicles, etc. – in order to expedite clearance of the highways and keep traffic moving safely throughout the region."

Additional state troopers are being assigned to monitor Interstate 95 between Caroline County and Northern Virginia, Geller added. She said those trooper will "respond to any incidents that may arise – traffic crashes, disabled vehicles, etc. – in order to expedite clearance of the highways and keep traffic moving safely."
