HENRICO COUNTY, Va. – It has been more than a week since a fire forced teachers and students from Baker Elementary School in Henrico County.
"The school caught on fire last Sunday, so what we’re doing at all of the Walgreens, we’re taking donations for school supplies for the kids. Because right now they can’t enter their building," Ricky Johnson, of The Ricky Johnson and Friends Organization, said.
Johnson said the children need all kinds of supplies.
Anchor Rob Cardwell had a special surprise for Johnson thanks to some help from Union Bank and Trust as part of our CBS 6 Gives initiative.
“We would like to help make a donation, to help you guys out, of $300," Cardwell said.
"Outstanding. We are so happy about that…," Johnson said. "That would help out tremendously."
