WISE COUNTY, Va. -- Convicted killer Jesse Matthew is now locked up inside one of the most secure prisons on the East Coast.

WTVR CBS 6 reporter Laura French has confirmed that Matthew, ,the former cab driver accused of killing two Virginia college students, was recently transferred to Red Onion State Prison in Wise County.

That is a supermax facility that houses some of Virginia’s worst criminals, including sniper Lee Boyd Malvo.

Earlier this month, Matthew pleaded guilty to killing Harrington in 2009 and Graham in 2014.

As part of the plea, he was sentenced to four life terms and will never be eligible for parole or geriatric release.
