NELSON COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) - Crews continued their search in finding Alexis Murphy Saturday morning.
Search crews started Saturday morning in the Rockfish River, off of Route 29 in Nelson County, according to Charlottesville CBS affiliate WCAV.
The Lake Monticello Rescue Team and Volunteer Squad was among 12 crews searching eight locations along Route 29, according to Charlottesville NBC affiliate WVIR.
Investigator William Mays told WVIR the areas covered in Saturday's search may be connected to Randy Taylor. Taylor is the suspect involved in the Alexis Murphy abduction.
Although there have been some reports that crews found a red sweater connected to Alexis Murphy, we cannot confirm that at this time.
Investigators said Alexis was not wearing a sweater the last time she was seen.
The 17-year-old Nelson High School student has been missing since Aug. 3. She was last seen at a gas station.
Taylor was charged with abduction and is currently in jail. He was denied bond on Aug. 22. A grand jury will decide whether to issue an indictment against Taylor on Sept. 26.
