CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. – Chesterfield Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash Monday afternoon.
Virginia State Police responded to the crash at southbound Route 288 at Hull Street at 2:57 p.m.
“The preliminary investigation reveals a 1999 Ford Expedition driven by a 60-year-old male was traveling southbound Route 288 when he lost control, running off road left, hitting an embankment, and overturning,” said a state police spokesperson.
The driver, whose name has not been identified, was partially ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver was not wearing a seat belt, according to police.
Police say a medical emergency is being considered a possible factor into the crash, which remains under investigation.
