1 dead, 3 displaced after house fire in Hanover

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. -- One person is dead and three people are displaced after a house fire in Hanover County early Saturday morning.

Crews were called to a house in the 1000 block of Maple Street around 5:30 a.m., according to Hanover Fire and EMS officials.

When crews arrived there was heavy fire coming from the home and three people were already outside, according to firefighters.

Fire crews were made aware of a fourth person trapped inside of the home. When they went back in to find that person deceased.

Officials said the fire was under control by 7 a.m. and that the home did have working smoke detectors.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Red Cross is assisting the family.
