CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. --Basheed I. Boatwright, 36, was shot and killed early Thursday morning in the driveway of a home on Eureka Drive in Chesterfield.
Chesterfield Police were called to the area of Eureka Drive and Aldwell Drive at about 3:10 a.m. for the shooting.
"Upon arrival, police located [Boatwright] outside a residence in the 7400 block of Eureka Drive," a Chesterfield Police spokesperson said. "Boatwright, of the 1200 block of Aldwell Drive, had been shot. He was transported to an area hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries."
Police do not think the shooting was random.
Investigators have not yet released a description of the shooting suspect, nor has information been released about the circumstances behind the shooting.
A childhood friend told CBS 6 that Boatwright and Wednesday's fatal shooting victim in Richmond, Michael Boston,were familiar with each other.
That friend, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the group is well known in the West End.
Police have not confirmed whether any recent shootings are connected.
