6-year-old boy who disappeared walking dog found safe

BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. -- Authorities said a missing six-year-old boy has been found safe after he disappeared in Bedford County, Virginia.

Samuel Welch was last seen leaving his Dowdy Rock Road home at about 10 a.m. Thursday to walk his white border collie named "Muffin," according to the Bedford Sheriff's Office.

He was reported missing just before 1 p.m. Thursday.

Major Ricky Gardner with the Bedford County Sheriff's Office said Samuel and "Muffin" were located by a search team at 3:20 p.m.

Gardner said the boy appeared to be in good shape with "no injures."
