1 injured after plane crashes on takeoff in Hanover County

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. – One person suffered a minor injury after a small plane crash Wednesday afternoon in Hanover County.

The pilot reportedly crashed on takeoff into an open field near River and Williamsville Roads.

Hanover Fire and EMS reports a minor injury and minor leak associated with the crash. The incident is under control, according to Hanover Fire and EMS.

The pilot, a 77-year-old man, walked away from the crash with only bumps and bruises, according to Virginia State Police.

The Hanover Fire Marshal Office, Virginia State Police and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the crash.
