Man dies after vehicle overturns, catches fire in Louisa County

LOUISA COUNTY, Va. — State Police are investigating a single vehicle crash that left a man dead Sunday morning.

The accident occurred at 3:05 a.m. on Route 613 when a 2008 Nissan Altima traveling east ran off the road to the right before striking a ditch. The car then struck a tree, causing it to overturn and catch fire.

The male driver of the Nissan died at the scene. His body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for examination and positive identification.

Speed is being considered a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
