Mayor-elect Levar Stoney announces senior staff appointments

RICHMOND, Va. -- Mayor-elect Levar Stoney announced Monday the first senior staff appointments of his administration.

Stoney announced his intentions to appoint Lincoln Saunders to the position of acting Chief of Staff, and to retain Selena Cuffee-Glenn in the position of Chief Administration Officer when his administration takes office, effective January 1.

"I am happy to announce that I intend to cause to be appointed, effective January 1st, Lincoln Saunders to the role of acting Chief of Staff. In his current role as Chief of Staff to First Lady Dorothy McAuliffe, Lincoln has been dedicated to helping improve the quality of life for children in Virginia,” Stoney said Monday.

Lincoln, a native of the Northern Neck, has a degree in government from the College of William & Mary and a Master's of Public Affairs from Indiana University.

“Lincoln has both the governmental experience, and the fresh perspective and energy needed to help our incoming administration achieve the goals we laid out during my campaign,” said Stoney.

Stoney also announced he will retain Selena Cuffee-Glenn as the Chief Administration Officer, a position she has held since May 2015.

“Prior to working in her current role, Selena was the Suffolk City Manager, where her strong management led Suffolk to an AAA bond rating. She previously led planning and community development for the Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority,” said Stoney.

Cuffee-Glenn has a Master's Degree in Urban and City Planning from the University of Virginia, and has taught courses in Urban Studies Development at Virginia Commonwealth University.

“Selena will be remaining at City Hall with the expectation that she deliver and execute a detailed plan to reform City government to make it accountable to the people of Richmond, consistent with the agenda I laid out during my campaign,” said Stoney. Selena will also be charged with assembling and developing the team of skilled and committed professionals needed throughout the organization to implement my bold vision and make Richmond an AAA bond rated city. I look forward to working closely with Selena to assure that these goals are realized.”

Stoney said he looks forward to setting ambitious goals that will improve the quality of life of all Richmonders.

“Together, we can ensure our city is taken to the next level and provide a more prosperous future for our children."
