HOPEWELL, Va. – A Rite Aid pharmacist thwarted a gun-wielding robber who wanted prescription pills.
On Nov.28, 2016, at approximately 11:54 p.m., officers responded to the Rite Aid located at 2305 Oaklawn Boulevard, where a lone offender entered the business, approached the pharmacist and asked for prescription Oxycodone.
According to officers, the pharmacist asked the subject for his prescription at which time the offender lifted his jacket and shirt revealing a handgun in his waistband and again requested Oxycodone.
The pharmacist immediately picked up the phone and called police, while disregarding commands from the offender that she stop. The offender then fled the business on foot, empty handed.
The offender is described as a black male, approximately 19-25 years old, about 5’8 to 5”9, with a medium build. He was last seen wearing tan in color khaki pants, a black hooded sweatshirt with writing on the front over a white t-shirt, dark-colored shoes, sunglasses and in possession of a silver in color handgun.
