Goochland, Va - The single wing offense isn't widely used anymore, at least not by teams on the Goochland Bulldogs schedule. They see it now and again, but not as well run as the Clarke County Eagles do it.

Clarke County grabbed a 14-7 halftime lead in Friday's 2A state quarterfinal meeting with the Bulldogs thanks in large part to their 230 yards on the ground. Eagles quarterback Christopher Davis completed only 2 passes but one was a 10 yard score to Nathaniel Barb that had Goochland down at the half.

In the second half, the Bulldog defense stiffened and the offense, led by Marcus Burton and Cordell Mattox gained over 300 yards themselves. Burton's 10 yard TD run in the third quarter tied the game at 14 and quarterback Tanner Bradshaw's second sneak of the game put them ahead 21-14.

The game wasn't decided until Calvin Martin intercepted a Clarke Co. pass at the goal line stopping the Eagles final drive of the night.

Goochland improves to 13-0 on the season and advances to next week's 2A state semifinals.
