1 hospitalized after boat catches fire on Rappahannock River

MIDDLESEX COUNTY, Va. – At least one person was hospitalized after a boat caught fire on the Rappahannock River in Middlesex County Friday morning.

An official with the Virginia Marine Resources Commission said crews were dispatched to Waterview Marina at 9:51 a.m.

The Middlesex County Sheriff's Office and the Essex County Fire Departments responded.

Officials said one adult and three juveniles were on board when the boat caught fire.

At least one juvenile was transported to an area hospital with burns.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
