RICHMOND, Va. — A tanker truck driver was charged with making an improper left turn after an accident that involved a Richmond school bus.

At least 10 students were taken to the hospital following the Friday morning school bus crash, Richmond Assistant Superintendent Tommy Kranz said. The students’ injuries appeared to be minor.

The investigation has revealed a tanker truck hit the back of the school bus near Mechaincsville Turnpike and Cool Lane at about 7:20 a.m. Friday, Kranz said.

The students on the bus attend Franklin Military Academy.

Some parents arrived to the accident scene and picked up their children, so the number of students treated at the hospital could increase.
