FORT AP HILL -- In honor of Veterans Day, Nikki-Dee Ray traveled to Fort AP Hill in Bowling Green, Virginia to learn how soldiers prepare for their missions.

She trained with the 1st Attack Reconnaissance Battalion, part of the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, based out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

She was there when the 1st Attack Reconnaissance Battalion conducted an aerial gunnery live fire training exercise.

The exercise allows pilots and maintainers to refine their skills to provide the best possible aviation.

The 1st Attack Reconnaissance Battalion is part of the nation's Global Response Force which is trained to respond anywhere in the world at a moment's notice.
