CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — Three people were burned from their Chesterfield home in a Thursday morning house fire. Chesterfield firefighters were called to the Sherri Drive home at about 7:30 a.m.
“Fire crews arrived to find smoke showing from the roof and located the fire inside the kitchen of the home. The fire started on the stove and spread to the cabinets causing moderate damage,” Chesterfield Fire spokesman Lt. Jason Elmore said. “It took crews approximately 20 minutes to get the fire under control.”
Fire investigators said the fire started because of “combustibles” left too close to the stove.
