WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Police are investigating a possible abduction after witnesses reported seeing two men pick up a person and force them into the trunk of a car outside a Walamart in Woodbridge Friday night.
Officers were called to the Walmart at 14000 Worth Avenue just after 10 p.m.
Multiple witnesses told police a victim, described only as possibly a younger African-American male, was seen being picked up by two men and put into the trunk of a dark-colored sedan in front of the store.
Video captured at 10:02 p.m. from surveillance cameras matched those witnesses' accounts.
Prince William County Police described in detail what was seen in the video:
The video shows the sedan pull up in front of the store and two men exit, one from the driver’s seat and the other from the rear passenger seat. The two men walk out of a camera view for a few seconds before one of the men returns to the car and appears to open the vehicle’s trunk from the driver’s compartment. That man then walks back out of camera view once again. A few seconds later, both men reappear within camera view holding the victim from both sides walking towards the trunk area of the vehicle. At one point, the victim appears to try and get away from the men and was unsuccessful. Once in the trunk, the suspects get back into the vehicle and quickly drive away.
However, witnesses did say that the victim and suspects appeared to be possibly “play fighting” before the victim was shoved into the trunk.
Police also said additional surveillance video showed the suspects' vehicle driving next to the victim. In that video, the victim appeared to be talking to the car’s driver.
Police said the suspects appear be be either Hispanic or light-skinned African-American men who were wearing dark clothing
The vehicle, possibly a Toyota Camry, was described as a dark-colored, four-door sedan.
Detectives are urging anyone with information that could help their investigation to call the Prince William County Police Department at 703-792-6500.
