RICHMOND, Va. -- Temperatures have been on a roller coaster pattern the past two weeks, and it is a trend that will continue.
After near-record-level high temperatures in the 80s Sunday, a cold front will bring highs back into the low and mid 60s for Monday and Tuesday. Halloween evening will be dry and seasonably cool.
Since 2000, most of the Halloweens have been dry. This year will follow that trend, and highs will be close to the normal of 67°. We've been asked if it has ever snowed on Halloween in Richmond, and a trace was actually recorded in 1925. There are no worries about that this year.
Temperatures will surge back to around 80° Wednesday and Thursday, which will be within a few degrees of record highs. Another cold front will pass late Thursday with a few showers, followed by more seasonably cool weather for the end of the week. It appears that the cooler trend will lock in for more than just a few days after next weekend.
