HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — A small business owner is asking for the public’s help to find a suspect he says stole a donation jar to collect money for the American Cancer Society.

John Wells Jr., the owner of Odd Balls Antiques & More on West Broad Street in Henrico’s West End, posted surveillance video Saturday afternoon of the crime.

The video shows a man looking back and forth presumably to see if the coast is clear before pulling an American flag out of the Relay for Life donation jar. The suspect then looks back and forth again before snatching the jar and walking out of the store.

“I need your HELP finding this guy. He came into my store and stole our Relay For Life donations,” Wells posted on Facebook. “PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO AND SHARE. If you recognize him, please let me know.”

Wells said he has filed a report with Henrico police.

“He’s too patriotic to steal our American flag (watch him put down the American flag before stealing the money), but pathetic enough to steal money from charities,” Wells wrote. “I hope there is karma!!”
