FAIRFAX, Va. -- Musician and actress Miley Cyrus campaigned for Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine at George Mason University in Fairfax on Saturday.
"Campaigned for @HillaryClinton today in GMU in VA encouraging young people to volunteer and vote!!!! 💖💖💖" Cyrus tweeted.
"As an advocate for LGBTQ rights, gender equality and environmental issues, Cyrus will knock on doors to speak to students about the high stakes in this election for millennial voters," a Clinton campaign spokesperson said.
Garren Shipley, Republican National Committee Virginia Communications Director, panned the celebrity visit.
“Hillary Clinton has often said that this campaign is about role models. Miley Cyrus is campaigning for her today in Northern Virginia," Shipley said. "Foam finger manufacturers could not be reached for comment."
While Cyrus was in Northern Virginia, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was in Hampton Roads.
Trump returned to Virginia for a campaign rally in Virginia Beach at Regent University Saturday afternoon.
