ANTIGO, Wis. - Police are investigating what could be a new lead in the search for a Wisconsin girl who disappeared in 2009.
On the department Facebook page, Antigo police say a YouTube video, recently gone viral, could be connected to missing teen Kayla Berg.
The video shows a man talking about a date with a girlfriend until a door opens, revealing a woman tied up on the floor, crying. The video has been making the rounds on social media -- with some viewers believing it's missing Antigo teen Kayla Berg. Berg's mother says she sees a resemblance.
"Sounded like her, looked like her. It gave me chills, it's hard to explain," said Kayla Berg's mother Hope Sprenger.
Sprenger tells WAOW-TV that the outfit from the girl in the video could belong to Kayla.
"The clothing could be a big possibility. We do believe she was wearing that type of a shirt. We know she had jeans," said Hope Sprenger.
In just three months, the video went from less than 20,000 views to almost a million. For Kayla's mom -- something about the video really caught her attention.
"As you start looking at it more, you're seeing well this was posted seven years ago, two months after her disappearance. To me that's a major red flag," said Hope Sprenger.
When Sprenger saw the chilling ending, "That first initial thought is, 'That's my daughter.' But I don't know that. I don't know if it's real. I don't know if it's fake," said Hope Sprenger.
If the video does turn out to be a hoax -- or if the girl in the video does not turn out to be Kayla.
"My god it could be some other person's child missing of one. Or if it's fake this person has an extremely sick sense of humor," said Hope Sprenger.
Sprenger says it's a disturbing reminder of what happened seven years ago, unsure if it's her eyes just playing tricks.
"I thought it looked a lot like her. I was trying to focus on some of the facial features. To me it looked a lot like her. I pray to God it's not," said Hope Sprenger.
