RICHMOND, Va. -- Fire units are investigating after a vehicle fell into the James River near the Boathouse on Rockett's Landing Saturday morning.

Units responded to the 1300 block of Branders Street a little after 10:15 a.m. The vehicle was not fully submerged when crews arrived and they worked quickly to hook it up to their vehicle to prevent it from doing so.

The vehicle was pulled out of the water completely at approximately 11 a.m.

The vehicle was reported stolen by the Richmond Police Department and officials believe someone may have attempted to abandon it in the river, but have not yet confirmed that information.

This is a developing story.
