SUFFOLK, Va. — Greg Jarrett from Suffolk won $500,000 from the Virginia Lottery ticket, but it wasn’t actually with a winning ticket.  Let us explain.

Jarrett scratched a non-winning ticket containing the eXTRA Chances logo, and entered it in the eXTRA Chances Promotion.

“I enter them faithfully,” he said. “I used to tell my uncle, ‘If you’ve got them, save them.’”

It turns out that one of the tickets he entered ended up winning the $500,000 top prize in the October 5 eXTRA Chances drawing.

“It feels excellent,” he said. “I might buy a car. Maybe invest in a new house.”

His ticket was drawn from more than 4.8 million entries. He’s not the only winner. With eXTRA Chances, players have a chance to win each day with hundreds of instant-win cash prizes, ranging from $25 to $100. Just enter any non-winning Scratcher with the eXTRA Chances logo for your chance to win one of these great cash prizes.

The next grand prize drawing will be held on Jan. 4, again with a $500,000 grand prize. Any non-winning ticket from a Virginia Lottery Scratcher containing the eXTRA Chances logo can be entered. The deadline to enter is Dec. 31, 2016.
