COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. — A 25-year-old man, wanted by police, was injured outside Southpark Mall in Colonial Heights Friday night.

Police were pursuing the man, around 7 p.m., when the man and a police car collided, sources told CBS 6 senior reporter Wayne Covil.

The man was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, those sources added.

Police have not yet released the man’s name, nor said why police were pursing him in the first place.

Witnesses reported seeing a large police presence in the parking lot outside the mall in the area of the closed Lone Star Steakhouse.

Other witnesses said they heard what sounded like gunshots.

“We heard what sounded like two sounds of a gun fire, then a few seconds later heard what sounded like a third shot,” a mall employee said.

Police have not yet commented on the situation.
