CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Chauffeur Warren Blakey of Charlottesville was on his way to pick up some clients when he stopped to buy bottled water for them.

While he was in the store, he decided to pick up a 10x the Money ticket from the Virginia Lottery.

“That game just looked good to me,” he later said.

As he drove his clients around, he had no idea he had a lottery ticket worth $100,000 in his possession.

He finally scratched the ticket when he got home that night.

“When I saw it, I said, ‘No way!’” he recalled. “I couldn’t believe it!”

Mr. Blakey bought the winning ticket at Reid Super Save Market, 600 Preston Avenue in Charlottesville.

Mr. Blakey is the fifth player to win the top prize in this game, which means two $100,000 tickets are unclaimed. The odds of winning the top prize in this game are 1 in 1,049,142. The odds of winning any prize in 10x the Money are 1 in 4.29.

Mr. Blakey said he has no immediate plans for his winnings.
