Police: Mom leaves kids home alone;  vacations in Cancun

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. – A Henrico mother has been arrested after police said she left her three kids alone at home while she vacationed outside the country.

Police sources said Aida Margaret Stovall, 30, left an 11-year-old child, and two twins under the age of 10, without adult supervision while she traveled to Cancun, Mexico.

Investigators said Stovall left for Mexico on September 13 and Henrico Police were made aware of a situation on September 16.

Stovall's neighbors keep asking the same question.

"What was going through her mind?" one neighbor asked. "You're millions of miles away... you don't know what's going."

A neighbor said Stovall asked two other neighbors to check on the kids periodically a couple days before she left.

"I would have a neighbor watch them, but I would want them to watch them at their house not here it's just weird and really bizarre," the neighbor said.

Sources said when Stovall touched down in Miami on the 19th, she was extradited back to Virginia.

Stovall has been charged with three counts of child neglect.
