CHESTERFIELD, Va. --Students and parents in Chesterfield are the latest to deal with these bizarre clown incidents occurring along the East Coast.

Just Monday, in Henrico, a clown was spotted by a mom around 5 p.m., while traveling on Laburnum Avenue near Creighton Road.

Then Tuesday, a social media account of “Clowns of Midlo” caused concerned, until police investigated.

A school resource officer at Tomahawk Middle School started investigating after the post showed up.

The officer found out about a social media post that included a photo of a creepy looking clown and a list of neighborhood locations, with a message that the clowns would visit the following locations and it mentioned to followers they shouldn't come out after dark.

The neighborhoods listed included Woodlake, Watermill, Fox Creek and Charter Colony.

The officer found there was another post specifically mentioning Tomahawk Middle, but said there was no direct threat.

Other posts on social media surfaced during the school day--at least one mentioned a shooting but police say no specific school in Chesterfield was singled out.

Investigators were able to identify a 13-year-old boy who they believe created one of the social media accounts involved in this clown incident.

Chesterfield Police consulted with the Commonwealth's attorney and a juvenile criminal complaint was filed for disorderly conduct, harassment by computer and electronic means.

Police said no credible threat was found.

By Virginia law it is illegal for anyone over the age of 16 to wear a clown mask, any other mask or hoodie over the face to conceal their identity

Police handled this quickly and that's likely easing the minds of some parents here in this Chesterfield area.

In Henrico, it is still a mystery who the “creepy clown” was driving around Laburnum.

In a video taken by the woman's daughter, you can see the clown poke its head out a passenger side window, and start to wave and point.

Henrico Police tell CBS 6 they haven't received any calls regarding clown sightings, but the mother said it left her feeling on edge after seeing the different stories on clown sightings around the country.

"A little nervous because my daughter kind of freaked out about it but I told her some people like to play games," said the mother.

The mother reached out to CBS 6 after seeing a story regarding clown sightings in Augusta County, Virginia over the weekend, saying it resembled the clown they spotted in Henrico.
