RICHMOND, Va. -- A tractor trailer hauling cornbread caught fire on Interstate 95 in South Richmond Wednesday morning.

The truck fire, near Bells Road, closed lanes on Interstate 95 south.

"The right and center lanes remain closed on I-95 south near Bells Road (mile marker 69) following an earlier crash. Traffic is getting by using the left lane. Crews estimate that cleanup could continue into rush hour later today," a VDOT spokesperson said. "Drivers can expect delays to build as rush hour approaches and are strongly encouraged to use an alternate route to avoid delays."

The truck fire was reported at about 1:30 a.m.

"The tractor was able to disconnect, [so] it was only the trailer that was on fire," Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Steve Vick said. "There are no injuries."

An investigation into the fire remains ongoing.
