RICHMOND, Va. -- In a dominating performance not reflected in the final score, the Manchester Lancers knocked off L.C. Bird 21-14 in our Final Score Friday week 4 Game of the Week.

Lancers quarterback Brendon Clark threw for 202 yards and a touchdown and also ran for another 21 yards and a score.

They also got an unlikely touchdown from offensive lineman Zane West, who recovered a fumble in the end zone for their first touchdown of the night.

"We knew it was going to be a slugfest coming in," Lancers head coach Tom Hall said. "We had a hard week of practice but we told our kids it would pay off. I'm really proud of them".

Skyhawk running back C.J. Donaldson carried the majority of the load for Bird (3-1) after Shedrick McCall left the game in the first quarter.

Donaldson finished with with 140 yards on the ground and both Bird scores in the 4th quarter.

This marks the second straight week that the #1 team in our CBS 6/FoxSports9 910 high school poll has been beaten after Highland Springs fell to Meadowbrook last week.

The Lancers (3-0) have now won two of the last three games against Bird, whom Hall referred to as the "measuring stick" against which all other teams are judged.

"I think this game we were (up to par with Bird)," Hall said. "They still will be until people beat them on a consistent basis. Tonight, we were one play better than they were."

Manchester will face James River in week 5 while L.C. Bird visits Clover Hill.
