AUSTRIA — An 18-year-old Austrian girl is suing her parents for posting embarrassing childhood photos of her on Facebook without her consent.

The teen’s lawyer Michael Rami says more than 500 pictures have been posted since 2009. This includes images of her potty training and getting her diaper changed.

The teen says the posts have made her life miserable after being shared with her parents’ 700 Facebook friends.

“They knew no shame and no limit – and didn’t care whether it was a picture of me sitting on the toilet or lying naked in my cot – every stage was photographed and then made public,” the teen told The Local, an Austrian newspaper.

The teen says she has repeatedly asked her parents to remove the photos, but they have refused. The girl’s father said he’s the one who took them, so he has the right to publish them.

“I’m tired of not being taken seriously by my parents,” she said.

Rami said this type of case is the first of its kind in Austria. He said he believes his client can win the case based on similar cases abroad.

He believes the teen’s parents may have to pay compensation their daughter’s pain and suffering and legal costs.

The case is set to be heard in an Austrian courtroom in November.
