CHESTERFIELD, Va. – Chesterfield Police spend fifth day at the scene of a weekend house party in Chesdin Landing where two men were killed.

They collected evidence and took photographs.

"It's a tough scene to process because you know there were so many things that were either in the yard, in front of the house, inside the house, and you've got to collect everything because you're not sure what's truly important, what may have been there before, what was part of the party, so you use to be very meticulous in doing that,” said Capt. Mike Louth.

Police said that when shots rang out, around three hundred people were there, and they believe one may hold the key to solving this case.

They have asked people present to share those pictures with investigators, as they investigate the shooting deaths of Duval Turner Jr., 22, of Richmond, and Marc Starkes, 24, of Amelia County.

Police called the crime scene a “mansion party,” which is a house under construction where party goers are given the address on social media.

"With two to three hundred people at that party we believe there are a lot of people out there that have information that will be helpful to this investigation,” said Capt. Louth

Investigators emphasized that one key could be a picture on a cell phone.

"You might have something just that one little camera shot that could be the key that links this case together,” Louth said.

In addition to the party pictures, police have asked for help identifying a single party goer.

"Detectives are asking for the public’s help to identify an individual who attended the party and may have information about the shooting," a Chesterfield Police spokesperson said. "This man is described as a black male in his early 20s with a light complexion and skinny build. He was last seen wearing a red polo-style shirt, blue Levi’s pants and white tennis shoes. He also had several visible gold or silver teeth."

"At the end of the day, we had two people that died, that's our focus right now,” Louth said.

Neighbors heard shots rang out

Police were called to the Chesterfield home at about 1:50 a.m. on Sunday, September 4, to investigate reports of a shooting.

"Upon arriving and checking the residence, where a large party was occurring, police found two adult male victims who were deceased," the police spokesperson said. "An additional victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries."

Angie Blackham and her family were sleeping when the shooting happened.

"I had my window open to my bedroom and all of a sudden I hear these popping sounds," she said.

Blackham said she did not realize they were gunshots.

"In this neighborhood that's the farthest thing from my mind—gunshots,” she said.

Blackham said the lake front golf course community is usually pretty quiet.

Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call Chesterfield Police at 804-748-1268; after business hours at 804-748-1251, or Crime Solvers at 804-748-0660.
