COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. – Residents woke up Wednesday to discover, grimly, that overnight a criminal vandalized the neighborhood.

Nearly a dozen vehicles were spray painted, along with several signs and even a boat parked near the middle school.

The rash of crime occurred along Conduit Road.

"Hopewell was here," was sprayed in red on the boat.

Several of the cars had merely a wavy line of spray paint across them, though damages will still cost hundreds of dollars to remove.

Investigators said the vehicles were spray painted sometime overnight, but they don’t know exactly when and are still investigating.
