HENRICO COUNTY, Va. – Back-to-school shopping can stressful, not only for parents, but teachers as well. Most teachers have to spend out of their own pockets to provide their classroom with all the supplies they need.

So CBS 6 Anchor Julie Bragg, with the help of Union Bank and Trust, helped out a local teacher stocking up on supplies in a back-to-school edition of CBS 6 Gives.

Julie Bragg stopped by Teach N Things in Glen Allen and surprised Nanci Child, who has been teaching since 1979. Nanci is currently a kindergarten teacher at Colonial Trail in Henrico.

Nanci only had a small handful of supplies for her students, but Julie had a different idea.

“Would you be able to find more things that you need?” she asked.

“Certainly… I can come up with a list real fast,” Nanci said with a laugh.

“That’s what we’d like to do… Now you got to shop for some more stuff and we’ll follow you around,” said Julie.

“Oh my Goodness, thank you so much… Is this for real?” Nanci asked.

Julie and Nanci shopped around for some additional items for her kindergarten students.

“This means everything to me, I got many things I would not have gotten, things I know I will use all year long and things I know the children will benefit from,” added Nanci.
