AMHERST, New York -- A suspected meth lab was found underneath a Walmart parking lot near Buffalo, New York, WIVB reported.

Local and New York State Police set-up a crime lab in the Walmart parking lot after officers on regular patrol found evidence of the meth lab in a large culvert that runs under the parking lot, the station reported. The unsecured culvert is large, people could stand and make meth inside.

"We’ll talk to the proper authorities to figure out what we need to do to make sure that’s not accessible anymore," Captain Scott Chamberlin told WIVB.

While shoppers exited Walmart, they saw police bringing evidence up to the surface through a manhole.

"Spray paint can, some various chemicals, a liquid we believe is methamphetamine," Chamberlin said.

Police plan to review security cameras to determine who used the space to make drugs.
