RICHMOND, Va. — Every Tuesday this summer, we invite one of our friends to takeover the CBS6 Instagram account and share their world with you. This week tattoo artist Amy Black is taking over. You can see all the others here.
Amy is hosting Tibetan Monks from the Drepung Loseling Monastery for a special event this week, that starts on August 10. She will be showing them around town today.
They are here to build a beautiful sand mandala that will be deconstructed and taken to the James River afterward.
Amy, a practicing Buddhist, brings many things to our community.
She began tattooing in 2000 and now owns the studio where she started. She has won Style Weekly’s “Best Tattoo Artist” Reader’s Poll for five years and received recognition from many other publications
From her studio, she also operates the Pink Ink Fund. In 2011, Amy began working in another field of tattooing known as “nipple and areola repigmentation” or “mastectomy tattooing” as a part of breast reconstruction for patients post mastectomy due to breast cancer or BRCA diagnosis.
Please, welcome Amy to our #CBS6TakeoverTuesday!
At the end of the summer contest you vote for who had the best takeover and we donate $200 to their charity of choice. Amy has chosen the Pink Ink Fund.
