NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Police are investigating after three kids were shot in one Newport News neighborhood Monday evening.
Officers were called to the 800 block of 36th Street around 6:15 p.m. on a report that gunshots had been heard in the area.
When police arrived, they located a 16-year-old boy who had been shot once in his upper left arm.
The victim told police that he was on a porch when a black Jeep that was driving by slowed down and then stopped. He said a passenger got out of the Jeep and fired three or four rounds.
Police were called to the same neighborhood again shortly before 7:30 p.m. on a report of several gunshots.
The second victim was a 10-year-old girl who was shot in the left foot while walking in the 700 block of 35th Street. She said she heard several gunshots and described the suspect’s vehicle as a black SUV.
The third victim was a 14-year-old boy who also heard several gunshots and was shot in the right foot in the area of 35th Street and Madison Ave. He also described the suspect’s vehicle as a black SUV.
All three victims were taken to a hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.
Police did not have any additional vehicle or suspect information.
