Amelia home invasion: 1 suspect hurt, 1 on the run

AMELIA COUNTY, Va. -- One suspect was seriously injured and a second suspect remained on the run following a reported home invasion in Amelia County.

Amelia Sheriff's deputies were called to the home along the 19000 block of Harrisons Road in Jetersville at about 10 p.m. Sunday.

"A 20-year-old male suspect was injured when he and the homeowner exchanged gun fire. That suspect was transported to VCU Medical Center by Med-flight. The homeowner and his family were not injured in this incident," a Amelia County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson said. "The second suspect immediately fled the scene in an unknown vehicle prior to the Sheriff’s Office arrival."

The names of the suspects have not yet been released.
