HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- CBS 6 has learned new information about the man who was critically injured in Wednesday’s I-64 highway shooting in Henrico County.
The 38-year-old Richmond man is in critical condition at VCU Medical Center after suffering life-threatening injuries Wednesday.
CBS 6 is not naming the victim, but we have learned through police sources and court records that the shooting victim was due in court on Monday July 11, to face a conspiracy to commit first degree murder charge.
The crime happened on May 10, 2016 and the victim was arrested on June 2.
There has been no confirmed relationship between that case and the I-64 shooting at this time.
The victim was shot multiple times while driving along I-64 east near Laburnum Avenue Wednesday afternoon. Police said the driver was hit multiple times, including, sources say, at least once in the chest.
At this point in their investigation police believe this was an isolated incident and the vehicle was targeted, but that information has not been confirmed at this time.
