Police name driver killed in fiery semi crash in Sussex County

SUSSEX COUNTY, Va. -- State police have released the name of the tractor-trailer driver killed in a fiery wreck in Sussex County Sunday morning.

Officers were called to investigate a single-vehicle accident on Route 460 at Cabin Point at 8:41 a.m.

Troopers said the semi was traveling eastbound on Route 460 when the driver ran off the road and struck a tree.

When crews arrived, the semi was fully engulfed with the driver of the vehicle trapped inside.

The driver, 63-year-old James "Jim" Clutter Jr., of the 9000 block of Laidback Lane in Broadway, Va., died at the scene.

Officials are investigating what caused the crash.
