Police release name of man killed at Richmond motel

RICHMOND, Va. -- Police have released the name of the victim in a homicide at the City Motel on Jefferson Davis Highway in South Richmond.

Police were called to the motel at about noon on Friday when a person was found unconscious and not breathing in a motel room.

Officials said they found the body of 38-year-old Michael E. McCray of Columbia Street inside a motel room.

"At this time, McCray’s death is being investigated as a homicide," Richmond Police spokeswoman Susan Rowland wrote in an email. "The medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of death."
