PETERSBURG, Va. — Police found a man’s body near Interstate 95 Wednesday night after they heard from concerned family members.

The body was discovered “some distance from the crash and concealed from view,” a Petersburg Police spokesman said.

Michael D. Jones’ family members called police and let them know they believed Jones was in the car with a woman who crashed near Interstate 95 and Graham Road during am early Tuesday morning police pursuit.

“The female driver was ejected from the vehicle after it rolled several times. She reported to the police on scene that there were no other passengers in the vehicle,” the police spokesman said. “Police, Fire and Medical personnel canvassed the scene originally. It was the additional information from the family on June 29th that brought Police out to re-search the area.”

Police are waiting for tests to positively identify the man whose body was recovered.

Additional charges are pending against the woman in this case, police said.

This is a developing story. Anyone with additional information can submit a news tip here.
