CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Charges are pending against a pair of teenagers following an early-morning crash in Chesterfield County.

The teenagers were driving in a stolen car, police said.

"I left it on because I was just running inside Wawa and coming right back out," Jamaal Key, the man who said he owns the stolen Dodge Charger, said.

Key said went inside the Wawa off Iron Bridge Road Sunday night as he frequently does. But this time, when he came back out, his car was gone.

"It being a keyless engine car, I had the key on me and it was still able to move without the key neon inside the car," he said.

Key called the police and filed a police report.

Then Monday just before 3 a.m., police say an officer spotted the stolen car in the 4000 block of Hailey Crescent Drive. Two teens--a male and female--where in the car. The officer tried to make contact with the teens, but the driver sped off.

Police pursuit the car down Genito Road.

During the pursuit, the driver lost control of the car near Courthouse Road.

The car then ran off the road and into the woods where it hit a tree.

"The vehicle's occupants, a male and a female, were found outside the vehicle and were taken into custody without incident," the spokeswoman said. "Both the male and female were transported to Chippenham Hospital with non-life threatening injuries."

"You can look at it and tell it was totaled," said Key about his car.

Key doesn't know who stole his car, but he's grateful he wasn't hurt.

"It's materialistic. It's a car, it can be replaced. As long as nothing happened to me and anybody that could've been with me," he said.
