PRINCE GEORGE, Va. – On June 1, Robert Turner was trapped in his car when another vehicle t-boned him, on Rives Road. Turner had to be cut out of the car.

He said the car that hit him as he pulled out, couldn’t see him because of a dangerous blind spot at the intersection.

"Right now, I can't walk but the next person might not make it, somebody might die there one day,” he said. "That intersection needs to be fixed cause it's a blind spot there."

Other residents who drive the area agreed.

"I know this intersection can be dangerous,” said one driver.

It’s easy to find drivers inching up from both directions, to look before pulling out.

"Yes it is, you have to pull out too far and it's a hazard,” said another driver.

"Very dangerous, it's kind of dangerous cause you can't see everything, they always speed fast up here,” said yet another.

"It's very, extremely hard, um, I ease my way out there each and everyday to go to work but, it's really hard especially coming from the left side,” said a driver.

Many said they'd like to see a lot of the greenery near the on and off ramps here on Rives Road removed by VDOT. Others said there's a sign blocking their view is a real problem.

Petersburg Police said there have been 11 accidents in this area in the past two and half years.

"With this intersection, here at Rives Road, it requires a little more care, when pulling off the ramp, unto Rives Road,” said Capt. Brian Braswell, Petersburg Police.

We reached out to VDOT about the area near the on and off ramps on Rives Road. They said that a study in 2012 recommended no changes in the area.

Now they said after the June accident that they will do another review.
