Plein Air studios pop up in Richmond neighborhoods

RICHMOND: Thirty of the country's top Plein Air (A painting done outside rather than in a studio. The term comes from the French en plein air, meaning 'in the open air').

Painters can be seen all over the River City, painting the town and capturing the city on canvas.  Artists will also be competing for prizes totaling over $10,000. You'll find artists in historic neighborhoods and beloved landmarks like Maymont, Carytown, Church Hill, the Fan, Shockoe Bottom, Belle Isle and the James River to name a few.

Artists will be in Church Hill on Thursday and in Carytown, near Cary Court Saturday's for Fast and Fresh from 9:30am -11:30 am.

The exhibit continues Friday, June 24, 8-9:30pm, Saturday 10am - 5pm and Sunday 12pm -5pm. For tickets to the Collectors Preview Friday, June 24th, 5-8pm, visit richmondspca.org/pleinairor call 804-521-1321. Tickets are $75 per person and each ticket comes with a $75 credit towards one (1) piece of artwork. Twenty-five percent of proceeds from art sales and all ticket purchases to the preview reception will benefit the lifesaving programs and services of the Richmond SPCA!
